As an emerging South African mid-tier gold miner, our target is to be globally competitive within the next five years.
VMR's current asset portfolio includes the Tau Lekoa and Kopanang underground gold mines, along with a surface materials site, two processing plants and an exploration project. All assets are situated in close proximity to each other, some 250 km south-west of Johannesburg near the town of Orkney. Production from the two mines is processed at the West gold plant, while the surface materials from the old Buffels mine area is treated at the adjacent Nicolor plant. The two processing plants have a total annual processing capacity of more than 3 million tonnes.
In total, VMR has an annual gold production capacity in excess of 200,000 oz.
VMR has close to 6,000 employees. Our typical employee supports several dependants, most of whom reside in remote rural areas of southern Africa. When considering local suppliers, service providers and specialist contractors, VMR supports the livelihood of several tens of thousand South Africans.
